There are three conditions to be met before applying for a Decree of Divorce:

1. The spouses must have been living apart for a time amounting to four out of the last five years.
2. There must be no reasonable prospect of a reconciliation between the spouses.
3. Arrangements have to have been made for the welfare of the spouse and any dependent family members.

When the Court is granting a Decree of Divorce it may also make orders in relation to children, maintenance, property, succession rights, etc.

Once a Decree of Divorce has been granted both parties are free to remarry as they so wish.
